6 Arrested After Fight at Long Island Bowling Alley, 4 Officers Hurt

The incident occurred Sunday night.

GARDEN CITY, NY - Six people were arrested and four Nassau County Police officers were treated for minor injuries after a fight between two women at a Garden City bowling alley quickly spiraled out of control Sunday night.

According to police, Third Precinct officers responded to a disturbance at AMF Garden City Lanes located at 987 Stewart Avenue around 8 10 p.m.

Police sad Deyahna Curtis, 21, of Hempstead, became involved in a verbal argument with a 24-year-old woman that escalated into a physical altercation.

April Newson, 17, of Hempstead, then joined the fight and struck the 24-year-old, police said.

Several other people became involved in the altercation and a wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash, debit cards and personal papers were taken from the victim, police said.

Four officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at scene, police said.

Curtis and Newson, along with the following other people, were arrested:

  • Darron Roberts, 48, of Freeport
  • Phateama Grier, 26, of Hempstead
  • Greta Price, 48, of Hempstead
  • Merry Allen, 20, of Roosevelt

Curtis is charged with second degree robbery, three counts of second degree assault and third degree assault. Newson is charged with second degree robbery and second degree assault. Roberts is charged with second degree assault, fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of a marijuana.

Grier is charged with second degree assault and disorderly conduct. Price and Allen are each charged with disorderly conduct.
