FDNY Wake Closes East Meadow Avenue

Due to the wake for FDNY firefighter Ray Pfeifer, part of East Meadow Avenue in East Meadow will be closed until 11 p.m.

The area in front of the East Meadow Fire Department Headquarters, from Glenmore Avenue north to Front Street, is closed to all traffic.

The fire department headquarters is where Pfeifer's wake is being held, from 1 to 9 p.m. Police are closing off the area.

Pfeifer, an incredibly vocal advocate for firefighters and first responders who were suffering from cancer from their time on the pile following 9/11, died Sunday from cancer he got from working on the World Trade Center site.
