LI Post Office Employee Stops Elderly Woman From Being Scammed
The woman had already been swindled out of $1,000, but the employee stopped her from sending more money and notified the police.

An East Meadow Post Office employee stopped an elderly woman from being the victim of a scam a third time, and police are seeking any information from the public.
According to police, an 81-year-old woman received a phone call in November from a man who told her she had won $5.5 million, but needed to send $500 in cash in order to claim the winnings. The woman sent the cash.
The woman was contacted again on Dec. 6 and told to send another $500 to claim the winnings, which she did.

The woman was contacted a third time on Dec. 12 and told to send another $500. The woman was in the process of sending the money when she was stopped by an employee at the East Meadow Post Office who thought something was wrong. The employee notified the police, who are investigating.
Police ask anyone with information about this scam to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
