Man Arrested After Burglarizing East Meadow Home: Police

The burglary occurred on Friday evening.

EAST MEADOW, NY - A Huntington man was arrested for burglarizing an East Meadow home on Friday evening, according to Nassau County Police.

Police received a 911 call for a burglary in progress at a Francis Drive home at about 5:40 p.m.

Upon police arrival, a 43-year-old man told police that he saw an opened front window and heard someone inside the house, police said.

Officers saw the alleged burglar, 43-year-old Rony Compere, in a Chevrolet Tahoe in front of the home, according to police.

He fled scene on foot through backyards and was placed into custody in the backyard of a Brisbane Lane residence.

There were no proceeds at this time.

Compere is being charged with second degree burglary and third degree criminal trespass, police said.

He was arraigned on Saturday.
