A man assaulted a woman in an East Meadow parking lot on Friday night and stole her purse, police said. According to detectives, a 60-year-old woman was entering her car at Walgreens, located at 2474 Hempstead Turnpike, at 8 p.m. when she was approached from behind by a white man in his mid-30's wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The man pushed the woman's face down onto the front seat and grabbed her purse from over her head. After a brief struggle, the man took the purse, which contained cash and personal property, then entered a dark colored car and fled eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike.
