UNIONDALE, NY — Police are investigating after a male was shot in the ankle in Uniondale early Saturday.

Police were called to Greengrove Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Saturday for a report that someone had been shot. Officers found a male with a gunshot wound to the left ankle.

The shooter ran off on foot and was last seen heading south on Greengrove Avenue, police said. He is described as a black male and was wearing dark clothing.

The victim was treated at a hospital.
