One Dead In Early Morning Crash In Nassau

BREAKING: The two-car crash left one dead and two injured during the rush-hour commute.

UPDATE: A 51-year-old man was killed Monday morning in a car crash in East Meadow.

According to police, the man was driving a 2003 Toyota Carolla eastbound in the left lane on Jerusalem Avenue and North Jerusalem Road when he swerved into the right lane, striking a 2009 Jeep Liberty, which was also travelling east.

Both cars collided with a pole on the south side of the road. The driver of the Carolla was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:58 a.m. The driver of the Jeep, a 40-year-old female, along with a 14-year-old male passenger, were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating, but say there is no apparent criminality.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, a call came in at 7:23 a.m. for a two-car crash at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and North Jerusalem Road in East Meadow, just east of the Meadowbrook State Parkway and near the East Meadow/Uniondale/North Merrick border.

One person was killed in the crash and another injured. Police are still investigating.
