• Plainview Woman Pleads Guilty In Fatal, 'Drug-Fueled Crash': NCDA (patch.com) — East Meadow residents are learning that a Plainview woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and related charges in a methamphetamine-fueled crash on Carman Avenue that killed 55-year-old Steven Diamond and injured others. The 2025 collision, which happened as another car turned from Salisbury Park Drive and ended with Diamond pronounced dead at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, could bring a prison sentence of four to twelve years when she is sentenced in December.
   

• NUMC is on the verge of big changes. Will Nassau's GOP get on board? (newsday.com) — Major decisions are looming over Nassau University Medical Center's East Meadow campus, including possible land sales, service cuts, or even a new hospital building, while county Republicans refuse to fill their seats on the state-restructured board. With Nassau still on the hook for old NUMC debt and conditions on the East Meadow property, residents could see significant impacts on local health services, county finances, and use of the hospital grounds.
   

• Pierre Engvall fighting to prove he still belongs with Islanders (nypost.com) — Islanders training camp is underway at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, where forward Pierre Engvall is battling to reclaim a roster spot after missing last season with injuries. With a shortened camp and a crowded forward group, new coach Pete DeBoer is fast-tracking scrimmages and special-teams work, making every practice in East Meadow especially critical for bubble players.
