A Quick Historic Get Away
If you're looking for a quick historic get away, San Antonio may just be the city for you.

If you ‘re looking for a quick historic getaway then San Antonio is the city for you. The historic attractions are within easy walking distance of each other. There are a couple of different hop on/hop off tours that not only include the attractions with San Antonio’s city center but the Spanish missions a bit further afield making them accessible to anyone who doesn’t want to rent a car.
The city has done a great job of preserving it historical heart. Admission to it’s most famous attraction, the Alamo, is free making it accessible to all. And the accessibly doesn’t end there. The square in front of the Alamo is a gathering place for tourists, tour groups (including a ghost tour), street entertainers, street preachers, and locals enjoying the fine weather. The Alamo is more a living part of the city then a dusty, historic relic.
The San Fernando Cathedral where the heroes of the Alamo are buried also has a square where people gather to just hang out or enjoy a sound and light show that takes place on the cathedral’s façade.
