Authorities had to stop the trains from arriving on the LIRR tracks while firefighters worked to get the fire under control, according to East Farmingdale Vol Fire Company Fire Chief Joseph Wisz.

The building, which was already on the verge of collapsing, gave way while firefighters were battling the blaze, Wisz said.
