Order Sons of Italy - Bethpage Lodge

   On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Rose Mazza of Massapequa, N.Y. was sworn in as the new president of the Order Sons of Italy in America Captain Kathy Mazza Lodge 2163A, Bethpage, New York. The lodge was established 1968 and in 2009 was renamed in honor of 911 hero and Nassau County Resident Captain Kathy Mazza, who was killed while assisting in the rescue of a disable woman in Tower One, when it collapse killing her and other members of the rescue team. Rose told me that some of her goals as the incoming president is to increase the membership of the lodge, continue to promote Italian pride and assist the community. She is very proud to have been chosen as the president. She has the highest confidence that with the newly installed officers that the lodge will continue to move forward. Present for the ceremony were friends and members of her family including Christopher DeLosh, Captain Kathy Mazza's husband and Port Authority Officers, who served with Captain Mazza. Many local dignitaries also attended and spoke, wishing Rose Mazza and the newly appointed officers the best and giving their support. The list included Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker. Also in attendance were members of Order Sons of Italy representing local, state and national.
