Bicyclist Injured In Farmingdale Hit-And-Run, Man Arrested: Police
The man was driving under the influence of alcohol when he hit the bicyclist and drove off, police say. The bicyclist suffered head trauma.
FARMINGDALE, NY — A West Babylon man was charged in a Farmingdale hit-and-run that injured a bicyclist on Thursday evening, Nassau police said.
Officers were called to Fulton Street near Williams Street around 6 p.m. for a crash, police said. A 2017 Honda was traveling west on Fulton Street and struck a 52-year-old man riding a bicycle, who was also traveling westbound, police said. The man was knocked to the ground and suffered head trauma, police said. Brandon Douglas Barnes, 34, who was driving the Honda, drove off, police said.
The bicyclist was brought to a nearby hospital by a Farmingdale Fire Department ambulance for treatment and evaluation.

Barnes returned to the crash scene a short time later and was arrested, police said. Officials said Barnes was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Barnes was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an incident and third-degree assault. His arraignment was scheduled for Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
