FARMINGDALE, NY — Days after Merritt Deli was damaged in a fire, the Farmingdale community is rallying to help get the delicatessen back to serving sandwiches.

A GoFundMe in support of Merritt Deli has raised more than $350 as of Thursday afternoon.

"The deli was structurally damaged by fire, and all food & drinks must be thrown out as ordered by the Board of Health due to toxin exposure," wrote Patrick Nealon, the fundraiser's organizer. "Owners Craig & John planted their roots in Farmingdale in 1956 and have helped the community and its various organizations. Please consider donating to this family-owned and operated business so they can get up and running again."
