2. Farmingdale Man Accused of Chasing Man With Machete, Robbing Teen (newsbreak.com) — Police arrested a Farmingdale man after an Oct. 7 incident on Colombia Street where he allegedly threatened a woman with a box cutter, chased her son with a machete, and robbed a 15-year-old boy of his bag. No one was injured, and the suspect faces robbery, weapons, menacing, and mischief charges, with arraignment scheduled in Hempstead.

More than 200 Long Island schools had lead fixtures, report finds (newsday.com) — New statewide testing data show that Northside Elementary in the Farmingdale School District had 32 water outlets above New York's lead limit, among the highest counts in Nassau County. While districts are installing filtered bottle-filling stations and replacing fixtures, parents in Farmingdale should stay alert for district updates on which outlets are fixed and where safe drinking water is available.

Fall foliage report for Long Island: leaves have begun changing color (wshu.org) — If you're planning a fall walk in Farmingdale, Hempstead Lake State Park is already showing about 15% color, with early eggplant and crimson hues appearing. Other nearby parks like Eisenhower in East Meadow and Mill Pond in Wantagh range from 5% to 40% color, with Long Island's peak foliage still expected in early to mid-November.
