Two men visited a 70-year-old man's home and said they were masonry workers and would be willing to perform construction on his house that needed repairs, police said. The man accepted their offer, and over the next two months, the men would come back and each time claim they found more damages needed repair, police said. They told the homeowner each time that they required money deposits to pay for the planned future work, police said. The man paid the duo a approximately $239,500, but no work was ever done, police said.

The man eventually suspected that he was being scammed and notified the police on Tuesday, the department said. Detectives say they are looking for the scammers.
