ELMONT, NY — A man was charged with hitting two people on the street, police said.

Tanner-Rey Perez, 34, of Elmont, is accused of hitting a 56-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man with a metal lock, detectives said.

He was placed in custody on Sunday, while the victims were taken to an area hospital.

Rey Perez was also transported to a hospital with injuries he sustained in the altercation. At the hospital, he became combative with officers, who attempted to restrain Rey Perez, detectives said.

As a result, one officer suffered a laceration on the hand and was treated at the hospital.

Tanner-Rey Perez faces three counts of second-degree assault, second-degree attempted escape and criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled for arraignment on Sunday.
