Man Killed While Crossing Sunrise Highway In Nassau

A man was killed while crossing Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream Monday night, police say.

According to police, the 55-year-old man was crossing Sunrise Highway at Satterie Avenue at 10:14 p.m. when he was hit by a blue 2014 Dodge Suburban, which was heading west. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County paramedic.

The Suburban was brake and safety tested, and the driver was not charged, police say. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until his family is notified.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
