Man Robs Nassau Walmart, Injures Officer: Police
The man cut a loss prevention officer's thumb and smashed his phone, police say.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Brooklyn man who robbed a Walmart in Valley Stream on Tuesday was arrested, Nassau police said.
Officers were called to Walmart at 77 Green Acres Road for a robbery at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Jeffrey Davis, 21, of Brooklyn, hid merchandise and left the store without paying, police said. Loss prevention officers confronted Davis and tried to escort him into their office when he became agitated and threatened them with a knife, police said. Davis began swinging his arms, causing a loss prevention officer to suffer a cut on his left thumb, police said.

The officer dropped his cell phone, which Davis then picked up and smashed on the ground, police said. The officer, 24, was treated for his injuries at the store, police said.
Davis was found a short distance from the store and arrested without further incident, police said.

Davis was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal mischief.
His arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
