"Carlos Guerra and his co-defendants murdered two young men – within three days of each other – to move up the ranks of MS-13,” DA Donnelly said. “The victims, in this case, made the mistake of allegedly disrespecting MS-13 and were marked for death."
One of the murders took place on Dec. 17, 2018, when a 17-year-old victim from Far Rockaway, was lured to the Five Towns Community Center in Lawrence. One of the co-defendants allegedly shot the victim four times in the head and once in the chest. Another defendant cut the victim's neck with a machete.

The six defendants – members of the MS-13 Normandie clique – fled to the same apartment in Far Rockaway, The DA's office said.
Other members previously sentenced: Yonathan Sanchez, a/k/a Turbo, and Elmer Gutierrez, a/k/a Revolver, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and two counts of conspiracy. Sanchez was sentenced to 34 years to life in prison in July 2020 and Gutierrez was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in August 2021, Donnelly said.
