Nassau Man Charged In Five-Burglary Spree: Police

Officers say they caught him trying to break into a home while he was carrying things he had stolen from another home earlier that day.

Nassau County police arrested an Elmont man Friday night and charged him with five burglaries that occured in October.

According to police, a witness said they saw Ramon Kelly, 25, of Keller Avenue, looking through the windows of homes in Valley Stream at 1:50 p.m. Friday. Police said they found Kelly in the rear sunroom of a home on Dana Avenue and placed him under arrest. An investigation revealed that he had proceeds on him from a burglary he had committed at 1 p.m. that same day, at a home on Dover Street in Valley Stream.

Police also said Kelly committed burglaries on Home Street Oct. 18 and on Lydia Avenue in Elmont Oct. 24, stealing electronics, jewelry, wallets, credits cards and other items. On Oct. 10, according to police, Kelly used a stolen credit card to purchase more than $700 worth of electronics at Target.

Kelly is charged with four counts of second-degree burglary, one count of attempted second-degree burglary and second-degree identity theft. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
