Nassau Police Make Arrest In Broken Bottle Attack

BREAKING: Police say he attacked another man with a broken bottle, causing serious injuries.

A Valley Stream man was arrested over the weekend and charged with attempted murder for attacking another man with a broken bottle in Valley Stream on Aug. 2.

According to police, a Third Precinct officer found a 25-year-old man lying on the ground near West Merrick Road and South Franklin Avenue with multiple stab wounds to his head, neck, arms and chest. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police say that an investigation showed that Fredy Orlando Zacaria-Agustin, 25, of East Merrick Road, was the attacker. He was arrested at his home on Friday afternoon without incident.

Zacaria-Agustin is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
