No. Valley Stream Street Named For 9/11 Hero
Vincent DeMarino died in 2019 from 9/11-related cancer. The longtime NYPD deputy chief spent months at Ground Zero.

NORTH VALLEY STREAM, NY — A heroic first responder who died from a 9/11-related illness was honored with a street-naming ceremony in his North Valley Stream neighborhood.
Town of Hempstead elected officials, led by Supervisor Don Clavin, unveiled Vincent DeMarino Way at Parkwold Drive South.
"Though nearly 20 years have passed since September 11, 2001, heroic first responders like Vincent DeMarino continue to tragically lose their lives as a result of cancers and other illnesses from working at the contaminated Ground Zero site," Clavin said in a statement.

DeMarino, who lived in North Valley Stream with his wife and four children, was an NYPD deputy chief for more than 27 years.
He was part of the search and recovery at Ground Zero for months. DeMarino succumbed to cancer linked to that work in 2019.
