Police: 100 Firefighters Battle Cedarhurst Blaze
Five Towns home reportedly belonged to former FDNY firefighter who was vacationing in Florida with family.

More than 100 firefighters tackled a fire in a Cedarhurst home early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out in the Bayview Avenue home at around 12:15 a.m. and eventually consumed the entire house, according to Nassau County Police.
After Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department’s initial response, 10 other departments rushed to the scene with more than 100 firefighters, cops said.

No one was inside the home at the time, police said. None of the responders were reportedly injured.
Detectives have not determined a cause of the fire yet but they said they do not believe it is suspicious.

The homeowner, a former FDNY firefighter, works for New York City’s Office of Emergency Management and is vacationing with family in Florida, according to News 12. The home had been recently renovated after it was damaged in Hurricane Sandy, according to the report. The home was demolished Wednesday morning.
