Slippery Oil Thief Caught In The Act: Nassau Police
Police say he was stealing waste oil from a store to resell it.

A Brooklyn man was arrested early Thursday morning after police say they caught him stealing oil from behind a Valley Stream store.
According to police, while on a routine patrol, officers saw Melvin Howell, 49, of Eldert Lane, taking waste oil from the back of King Kullen, located at 231 West Merrick Road. Police say that an investigation at the scene revealed that Howell was allegedly stealing the oil from containers behind the store and reselling it.
Howell is charged with petty larceny, driving with a suspended registration, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
