LI Car Service Driver Tried To Rape Teen Passenger: Police

FREEPORT, NY — A car service driver man tried to rape a teen passenger last week, police said.
A 13-year-old girl contacted a local car service to drive her home on Feb. 9, Nassau police said.
Before arriving at the girl's home, Eudy MejiaMejia, 30, leaned back toward the girl and asked for a kiss, police said.

She attempted to exit the vehicle, but the driver sped up, detectives said.
After parking his 2012 black Toyota Highlander, MejiaMejia locked the doors, police said.

He is accused of climbing on top of the teen and forcing himself on the girl, police said.
The girl was able to grab a plastic bottle from the center console, striking the man, allowing her time to exit, detectives said.
She ran to her home nearby and called 911. MejiaMejia fled the scene, police said.
After an investigation, he was located and arrested without incident.
MejiaMejia, who was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, faces charges that include: first-degree attempted rape, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
