Cops: Bomb Scare at Roosevelt Field Mall Friday

No bomb found in search Friday afternoon in East Garden City, police said.

A bomb threat was made against Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City Friday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police.

At 2:20 p.m., Simon Property Group, which manages Roosevelt Field, received an email from an unknown sender claiming there was a bomb somewhere in the mall, cops said.

Mall officials called Nassau County Police, who responded to the scene with the Emergency Service Unit, K-9 unit, and Arson Bomb Squad. Third Precinct detectives and officers joined Garden City Police in the investigation as well, cops said.

The mall was thoroughly searched but no bomb was found on the property, police said.

Officials are still investigating the incident.

Police did not confirm whether the latest incident was related to the “swatting” call across the street in Garden City Plaza two weeks ago.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
