Garden City Middle School Students Achieve on National Italian Exam
Students completed 80 questions within one hour.
Nicole Crilly, a student in Mariangela Sorace's eighth grade Italian class, received Honorable Mention for her achievement on the national Italian exam.
“All students who participated in this challenging competition are to be commended,” said Ms. Sorace.
The students completed a total of 80 questions within one hour. There were four components to the exam: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, geography and culture as well as grammar.

The annual nation-wide competition is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian, whose goal is to promote the study of the Italian language, literature and culture in schools, colleges and universities in North America. It is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research in all areas of Italian studies.
