Nassau Man, Who Had Fled To Ohio, Arraigned For 2018 Murder: DA
Authorities say Savonn Dangerfield walked up to a 23-year-old and shot him three times, killing him.

A Hempstead man was indicted by a grand jury yesterday on murder charges stemming from a shooting in 2018.
Savonn Dangerfield, 22, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is due back in court on Aug. 9. If convicted, he could face 25 years to life in prison.
“This defendant is charged with brazenly shooting and killing an unarmed 23-year-old man as he walked with his girlfriend near a Hempstead school,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “Though he tried to run from this horrific murder, he was apprehended in Ohio, and will now be held to account for the depraved violence alleged in this indictment.”

According to Singas, just after noon on Oct. 12, 2018, 23-year-old Jeffrey Lee, of Roosevelt, was walking with his girlfriend on Dartmouth Street in Hemptead when he was approached by Dangerfield and shot three times. Lee was taken to Winthrop Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Dangerifield fled the scene, Singas said. He was arrested on May 13, 2019 in Steubenville, Ohio, and extradited to Nassau County.
