Police Officers, Firefighters Rescue Cat Stuck In Drain: GCPD

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 3.
- Upon investigation of a domestic incident at a Garden City home on June 25, officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Manhasset for the violation of a Family Court order of protection. He was charged with criminal contempt.
- Officers and firefighters responded to the Middle School for a fire alarm activation on June 26. Upon investigation, it was determined that a 14-year-old student intentionally activated the alarm for no legitimate purpose. The teen was charged with false reporting of an incident.
- Firefighters responded to an 11th Street home on June 26 and extinguished a small fire in the garage. Upon investigation by fire and police personnel, the fire was determined to be accidental.
- A landscaper was given an appearance ticket on Ash Street for operating power equipment before 8 a.m. on June 26.
- As a result of a traffic stop for aggressive driving violations on Old Country Road on June 26, officers charged a 21-year-old man from Queens for driving with a suspended license, unlicensed operation and two unsafe lane use violations.
- Upon investigation of a domestic incident on June 27, Garden City Detectives arrested a 20-year-old man from Garden City for the theft of a credit card from another family member. He was charged with grand larceny.
- Officers investigated a report of a burglary at a Salisbury Avenue home on June 28. The rear window to the residence was found broken and a gaming system was reported stolen.
- Credit cards and cash were reported stolen from a gym locker at Healthtrax Fitness Center on Franklin Avenue on June 28.
- Upon investigation of a distressed driver in Parking Field 7S on June 29, officers arrested a 37 year-old woman from Malverne for DWI.
- Credit cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the St. Paul’s Sports Complex on June 30.
- Officers and the Garden City Fire Department responded to a Jefferson Street home for a pick-up truck fully engulfed in flames on July 1. Firefighters were able to control the scene and extinguish the fire. The GCFD and the Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing the investigation.
- A Garden City Plaza business reported two fraudulent checks totaling $14,000 were written against the company’s bank account on July 1.
- Police officers and firefighters rescued a cat stuck in a sewer basin on 3rd Street on July 1. The cat was unharmed
