Rotary to Honor Sikorski Family With Community Service Award
Philanthropic and volunteer activities over a near lifetime have earned them this special tribute.

On May 13, at the Inn at New Hyde Park, the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club will hold its 19th annual Community Service Award Dinner in honor of members of the Sikorski family, whose philanthropic and volunteer activities over a near lifetime have earned them this special tribute.
The Community Service Award was established by the club in 1991 to recognize the spirit of volunteerism and commitment.
Members of the Sikorski family are Eleonore and her late husband Leo Sikorski; their daughter Laura Sikorski-Tuerpe; and sons Ray, Len and Ed. Eleonore and Leo were a profound influence toward the resulting philanthropic involvements which they instilled in their children.

The Sikorski family business is Origin Press located at 131 Liberty Street in Mineola.
Throughout their lives, Eleonore's and Leo's sacrifice of time and devotion to those in need served as an example to Laura, Ray, Len and Ed as they set their individual courses toward various and innumerable charitable pursuits and endeavors.

Eleonore's involvement at St. Hedwig's parish in Floral Park, Polish Gift of Life, Guild of St. Francis Hospital, Polish American Museum, to name just a few, has been a driving force in the success of events sponsored by these and many other institutions and associations within the Long Island community.
Laura Sikorski-Tuerpe is an Emeritus member and past president of the Society of Telecommunications Consultants. Locally, she is involved with the American Cancer Society, SMPS-LI and CANstruction, American Heart Association, Kidney & Urology Foundation and the INN, NYRA/Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Ray Sikorski is current president of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce, a past director of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, immediate past president of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club, past president of the Polish American Museum and AMPOLA, second vice president of the board of directors of the INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) and member of the Mineola Lions Cub and Kosciuszko Foundation of New York City.
Len Sikorski is involved with several charities when it comes to donating printing services. He works with Charity Water, an international association that brings clean and safe water to people in developing nations. Locally, he is involved with the Mineola Lions Club, Frances Pope Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Ed Sikorski is involved with Rosa Mystica, a chapel-house of prayer for religious experience and retreat in Edmeston, NY which is run by the M.A.N. Foundation. Locally, he works with Freedom Chapel and Teen Challenge in Brooklyn and the Long Island Maritime Museum.
The Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club commends the Sikorski family for their exemplary contributions both locally and beyond and proudly salutes them as the 2010 recipients of the Club's coveted Community Service Award.
