83% Of Santos Voters Want Freshman Congressman To Resign: Poll
The Siena poll also indicates three-quarters of Santos' constituents think he can't be effective in Congress.

WASHINGTON, DC — While Rep. George Santos says he's committed to the voters who elected him, his support is minuscule, a new survey finds.
The Republican congressman, wrapping up his first month on Capitol Hill for the 3rd District, which covers the portion of Northern Nassau, along with parts of Queens and Suffolk, is getting being told to resign, a Siena University poll indicates.
Voters from Santos' district overwhelmingly want him to step down, 78-13%, the poll shows.

Santos, 34, has been locked in controversy since admitting to lying about his professional and educational past on his resume. But there have also been claims about his heritage and that his mother died as a 9/11 victim. His finances are also under scrutiny with several investigations.
A breakdown of the poll, shows 89% of Democrats want Santos' exit, but, perhaps more of note, among his own party, 71% say he should step down.

Patch attempted to get a comment on the survey from Santos' spokesperson.
Earlier on Tuesday, Santos stepped down from his two committee assignments, rather than be a "distraction."
The freshman congressman faces an 83% unfavorably rating from his constituents, the poll also shows, while three-quarters of voters say Santos can not be an effective representative for his district.
"To my constituents, I remain committed to serving the district, and delivering results for both New York’s Third Congressional District and for the American people," Santos said in a statement.
