The Mayor is working with Nassau County Office of Emergency Management to get FEMA to authorize funding for affected residents. Unfortunately, this process is not immediate, but we are doing everything we can to authorize our residents to submit claims to FEMA.
In the interim, residents should do the following:
1. Submit a claim to your insurance company, even if you do not believe there will be coverage.
2. Do not delay any clean-up efforts.
3. Document all damage with photographs.
4. Save all receipts documenting expenditures.
5. Email a dollar amount estimate of damage to stormdamage@glencoveny.gov
Please send only a dollar estimate – no receipts or photographs are needed. The dollar estimates will help the City of Glen Cove advocate for FEMA to begin the claims process for residents.
In the event you require temporary housing or a clean-up kit, please contact the Red Cross at (516) 747- 3500.
As always, please take care of yourselves and each other.
