Ethics Chairman Files Expulsion Resolution To Remove Santos
It comes a day after the bombshell report said there was "substantial evidence" that Santos "violated federal criminal laws."

WASHINGTON, DC — The House Ethics Committee chairman has filed a resolution to expel George Santos, multiple reports indicate.
It comes a day after the committee found there was "substantial evidence" that Santos "violated federal criminal laws."
In filing the resolution Friday morning, Rep. Michael Guest (R-Mississippi) said, "The evidence uncovered in the Ethics Committee’s Investigative Subcommittee investigation is more than sufficient to warrant punishment and the most appropriate punishment, is expulsion," NBC News reported.

The damning report released Thursday claimed Santos used thousands of dollars in campaign funds for personal expenses, including Botox treatments and shopping at Hermes and Ferragamo boutiques.
Santos, who has been indicted on 23 federal counts ranging from credit card fraud to lying to Congress, survived an expulsion vote earlier this month.

After Thursday's report became public, Santos announced he would not seek re-election. He announced on X that will hold a news conference on Nov. 30.
"The residents of NY-03 should not have to spend one more day with Santos as our congressman," Jody Kass with Concerned Citizens of NY-03 said.
Guest filed his resolution electronically as Congress is on break until the week after Thanksgiving, the earliest a vote can take place.
Santos is "not fit to serve as a Member of the United States House of Representatives" because of "his egregious violations," the resolution said.
