Glen Cove Receives Nearly $48K Grant To Boost Electric Vehicle Access

GLEN COVE, NY — Electric vehicle drivers now have another place to power up in Glen Cove, thanks to a new public charging station funded through a state grant.

The project was supported by a $47,774.10 grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Grant Program. The funding covered the purchase and installation of the charger and will allow the city to offer a limited charging subsidy to users.

The new ChargePoint dual-output Level 2 charger is located on the second floor of the Brewster Street South Garage, on the movie theater level. The station features two dedicated parking spaces for electric vehicles.

City officials said the project supports Glen Cove's ongoing efforts to reduce emissions, expand access to sustainable transportation, and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.

Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck said the installation reflects the city's commitment to environmental stewardship and building a more sustainable future for residents.

"Together, we're building a community that cares for each other and for our environment," Panzenbeck said.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Regional Director Cathy Haas said the agency is proud to support the project.

"This addition expands EV charging options in the city for residents and visitors, advancing the transition to electric vehicles and improving infrastructure for cleaner and greener communities in New York State," Haas said.
