Organizations Partner with SAFE, TAC for Smoke Free Premises
A number of organizations have partnered with SAFE and TAC in creating a network of smoke free premises.

It was a blooming Spring for tobacco control initiatives for the Tobacco Action Coalition OF LI (TAC) and SAFE, Inc. in bringing tobacco awareness and working towards advancing a tobacco free community. The SAFE Glen Cove Coalition and Carol Meschkow, Nassau Manager of TAC partnered with Cuidad de Refugio, Congregation Tifereth Israel and the Northshore Historical Museum in an effort to change the social norms associated with smoking to help curb youth initiation to a lifelong addition to smoking.
With the average age of onset at 13, this year's efforts were expanded to include these most important community partners as they service youth and families, serving our Glen Cove community as a model to promote education, character building and wellness. When approached and invited to join our efforts to create a safety net for our youth they were all eager to join this collaboration.
Over the decade since the Coalition and TAC have collaborated together to promote a Tobacco Free Community, several local stakeholders have partnered with the State’s Tobacco Free Outdoor and Smoke Free Multi-Unit Housing initiatives which include; the City of Glen Cove, the Glen Cove Senior Center, Youth Bureau and Library, Living Water for Women, the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club, the Glen Cove Housing Authority and other local youth and community agencies who have adopted the State’s Tobacco Free Outdoor Initiative for their organizations to protect the public from the dangers of second hand smoke, and to help change the social norms associated with tobacco usage.
