Police: Man Arrested For Falling Asleep, Refusing to Leave North Ferry Terminal

A Greenport man was arrested after falling asleep and refusing to leave the passenger terminal of North Ferry in Greenport on Monday afternoon, according to Southold Town Police.
Police responded to a call from the manager of North Ferry shortly after 4:30 p.m., reporting a sleeping male in the terminal, police said.

The responding officer spoke to Germain Mendoza, 44, who was told by ferry employees to leave the terminal and he refused, police said.
The manager told police that this is an ongoing problem with Mendoza and that he has been confrontational with some of the ferry employees. according to police.

Mendoza was then placed under arrest for trespassing and transported to police headquarters.
