Santos Constituents Head To DC; Want McCarthy 'Vote To Expel Him'
At least 40 residents of the 3rd Congressional District will take a bus from Roslyn to Washington.

GLEN COVE, NY — Ahead of the State of the Union, four dozen residents from the 3rd Congressional District will take a bus ride to Washington on Tuesday. Their aim is to seek accountability for Rep. George Santos, who has lied about various aspects of his background.
While one of the organizers for Courage for America, Casey Sabella from Glen Cove, doesn't expect the rally to lead to Santos' resignation, she wants to get the ear of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
"Our hope on this trip is to pressure on [him] to hold a vote to expel him," Sabella told Patch. "We're not going away until Speaker McCarthy does something."

A recent poll by Siena College indicated that more than 80% of Santos' constituents want him to step down.
"That's what it feels like on the ground too," she said about the groundswell against the congressman.

The bus will depart from the Roslyn Long Island Rail Road. Upon arrival at the Capitol, the activists will drop off petitions at Santos' and McCarthy's offices.
While Santos has been somewhere between silent to doubling down when it comes to addressing claims of his lies, Sabella calls it a frustrating situation.
"It feels like George Santos is mocking us as his constituents," she said.
Santos is also being investigated for potential misuse of campaign finances.
Sabella hopes a rally like the one on Tuesday will turn enough heads of lawmakers to sway the tide of support, or at least inaction.
"Until he is investigated fully and completely, and in a serious manner, we will not stop advocating," she said.
