Second Santos Expulsion Vote Expected By Friday: Report
Speaker Mike Johnson said Wednesday he has "real reservations" about going forward with the vote.

WASHINGTON, DC — A second vote to expel George Santos is expected this week. House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters that the vote would happen on Thursday, although CNN reported it could be delayed until Friday.
"I personally have real reservations about doing this, I’m concerned about a precedent that may be set for that," Johnson said about scheduling the expulsion vote, CNN said.
While some members of the GOP pushed for Santos to resign rather than force a vote, the embattled congressman defiantly said on the House floor Tuesday evening that he would not step down.

Santos, who lied about much of personal and professional life before coming to Capitol Hill, would become only the sixth member of the House of Representatives expelled. Santos would be the first ever to be removed who was not convicted of crime or part of the Confederacy during Civil War.
The 3rd Congressional District representative is facing 23 federal counts that he pleaded not guilty to.

An expulsion vote failed to gain enough support earlier this month, but the newly release House Ethics Committee report claiming "substantial evidence" of federal crimes could be open the door for lawmakers to vote to expel this time.
"The House Ethics Committee is the due process, or is the process that should be afforded a member," Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk) told CNN.
However, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-South Carolina) said this is a matter for Santos' constituents. "Let his voters deal with it," he told CNN.
Two-thirds of House members are required to expel.
