Homeless Man Charged With Gramercy Man's Murder, Police Say
Ashraf Ahmed stands accused of murdering Moses Ybarra in his bed at the Friends House in Rosehill Saturday morning, said police.

GRAMERCY, NY — A homeless man accused of fatally stabbing a man in his assisted living home bed was arrested Sunday, said police.
Ashraf Ahmed, 40, has been charged with the murder of Moses Ybarra, a 54-year-old man resident of the Friends House in Rosehill on East 25th Street and Lexington Avenue, said police.
Ybarra was found with bruises and stab wounds at about 1:45 a.m. by a security guard who heard a commotion, according to police and the New York Post.

Police have been looking for Ahmed — whom the Post reported was a former roommate of Ybarra's — since Saturday night, when they released a description and photo of their suspect.
The victim's family members told the New York Daily News thatYbarra had befriended Ahmed and tried to help him.

They didn't know why Ybarra was staying in a home for people who have HIV and AIDS, the News reported.
Ashraf’s arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court was pending Monday evening, city records show.
