Summer Concert Series:  Firefighters' Park, 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Mambo Loco will be bringing a sizzling salsa beat to Firefighters' Park June 18 as concert-goers will be treated to some very entertaining South American music from 8 to 9:30 p.m. p.m.Artist Reception: The Village of Great Neck Plaza will be hosting an artist reception at Village Hall at 6 to 7:30 p.m. for artists from the Great Neck Senior Center. Refreshments will be served. Furman Film Series: The film "Unfiished Song" will be screened at the Great Neck Arts Center June 20. Shireinu Choir of Long Island Presents Annual Concert June 7th;
Program Features Zalmen Mlotek, 
Director of the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene
The Shireinu Choir of Long Island, under the direction of Deborah Tartell, will present its annual concert on Sunday, June 7, at 3:00 PM. The concert will take place at the newly renovated Daniel J. Tomaselli Auditorium at Great Neck North Middle School. The upcoming program will include a wide variety of genres of Jewish Choral ranging from music of the 17th Century through the music of contemporary composers. 
The Shireinu Choir of Long Island is the largest mixed-voice adult community choir in New York State . The repertoire celebrates Jewish culture by singing its beautiful Choral music . Built on the mission which includes giving back to the community, many of our events throughout the year foster understanding and fellowship across diverse faiths and cultures. 
This year’s featured artist, Zalmen Mlotek, is an internationally recognized authority on Yiddish folk and theater music as well as a leading figure in the Jewish theatre and concert worlds. For the past 20 years, he has been the Artistic Director and conductor of the National Yiddish Theatre
Folksbiene (NYTF), and he has collaborated with Joel Grey, Theodore Bikel, Mandy Patinkin and many others as Music Director for NYTF. He received his musical training at the Juilliard School of Music and studied under Leonard Bernstein.
The concert will mark the second time the choir is performing with Mlotek, having collaborated with him at “Soul to Soul,” a program that personifies the alliances that Jews and African Americans formed amid calls for justice during the Civil Rights Movement. 
Among the selections included in the concert are Debbie Freidman’s beloved “Shalom Aleichem”, “Barechu” a 16th century composition by Italian composer Salamone Rossi, “ Yerushalayim Shel Zahav”(Naomi Shemer ) , and a medley of songs from the Broadway musical “Carousel “ (Rogers and Hammerstein). 
“All who attend will enjoy hearing the variety of styles and types of music the choir has perfected over the past nine years,” comments Deborah Tartell who is the founding director of the choir. “This year we are thrilled to be performing with Maestro Mlotek, singing some additional songs that are new and different from our usual repertoire.” 
Great Neck North Middle School is located at 77 Polo Road in Great Neck. Sands Point Preserve

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, 3 pm at the Sands Point Preserve’s Black Box Theatre, the Northwinds Symphonic Band will present their annual “Broadway, Movies and Light Classics” concert. Conductors Helen P. Bauer and Concetta Stevens have prepared an entertaining program of instrumental and vocal selections from popular movies and Broadway shows, as well as familiar classics. Included in the program will be movie music from the animated anthology, Cyberworld 3D, transcribed by Northwinds Band member Zachery Dornfeld. The band will also perform a collection of John Williams favorites from Star Wars and Superman and Salute to the Cinema, a medley of songs from classic movies arranged by Long Island composer Carl Strommen. Satchmo!, a tribute to Louis Armstrong, features songs associated with the great trumpet player, many of which were used in a variety of 20th and 21st century films. The concert will also highlight Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off made famous by Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire in Shall We Dance. and Accentuate the Positive, both arranged by Long Island composer Ray Osnato, with vocals by Broadway actor Karen Murphy and tenor Joe Stroppel. The Broadway portion of the program includes The Golden Age of Broadway, featuring the musicals of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Marching Down Broadway, with music from The Music Man, Oliver!, and Wildcat. Joe Stroppel will return to the spotlight to sing the Bocelli favorite Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), Caitlin Mallon captures the warmth of a Latin sunset as a trumpet soloist in Latin Sun, and percussionist Ryan Mitchell will show off his perpetual motion expertise on marimba with Leroy Anderson’s Fiddle Faddle. Please join us for a wonderful afternoon of entertainment for the entire family. The concert will cover one hour of music with a 15 minute intermission.

Lutheran Church of Our Savior

The sanctuary of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Port Washington will be transformed into a classical concert venue, with a duet featuring Federico Teti, Director of Music at the church, and Isabelle Briner, violinist in the highly acclaimed Lucerne Festival Orchestra.&nbsp;&nbsp;The program will showcase selections from Vivaldi, Chopin, Scarlatti, and Bach to name just a few. There will be a reception following to meet the musicians. This event is FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated to help the church fund its ministry in the community.&nbsp;
 Federico Teti studied Piano, Choral Conducting, Organ and Composition in Rome at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music where he graduated with the highest honors. &nbsp;He won the First Prize of the Competition for Young Organists “Rome 1981” and his performance given at the “Prize Winners’ Concert” was broadcasted on Italian National Radio (RAI). Since then, Mr. Teti has given solo recitals in his native Italy, the United States, Germany and Japan, and participated in Music Festivals and Competitions in Italy, France, Denmark, England, Scotland and Lithuania. Among his teachers and coaches are Daniel Roth, Ewald Kooiman, Giancarlo Parodi, Hedda Vignanelli Illy, Elio Solimini, Giorgio Carnini, Klemens Schnorr and Peter Westerbrink. He was awarded a scholarship to study at the “Accademia Musicale Chigiana” of Siena, Italy and a European Community Scholarship to study at the Academy of Italian Organ Music of Pistoia, Italy and he furthered his musical studies at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, where he took courses in Organ and Gregorian Chant. &nbsp;An active church musician, he was organist of the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare in the historical center of Rome.. Mr. Teti attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he completed advanced studies in Organ Performance under the direction of Dr. John Weaver and pursued his conducting studies with Judith Clurman, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Eduardo Browne and Isaac Karabtchevsky. While at Juilliard, he also studied Harpsichord with Lionel Party and Improvisation with Dr. Gerre Hancock. He made his Lincoln Center debut playing the Theodore Kuhn tracker organ in Alice Tully Hall and made his conducting debut at Juilliard Paul Hall, Lincoln Center, conducting the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2.
Violinist Isabelle Briner was born in Lucerne, Switzerland. She studied at the Music Academy Basle, Yale University School of Music and Manhattan School of Music, New York, where she received her Master of Music degree. Among her main teachers were Françoise Zeldy, Miriam Fried and Sylvia Rosenberg. While still studying at the Manhattan School of Music, Isabelle Briner began to pursue her professional orchestra career playing with the renowned Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado.
Apart from her orchestra engagements, Isabelle Briner appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at the Lucerne Festival, the Foundation for Young Music Talents, Meggen, Switzerland, the Albert Konzerte Freiburg im Bresgau, Germany, the Festival International d’Art Lyrique, Aix en Provence, France, Gustav Mahler Festwochen Toblach, Italy, and the International Music Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.
In 1998 Isabelle started playing in the newly founded Mahler Chamber Orchestra and collaborated with Claudio Abbado, Daniel Harding and other conductors, touring worldwide for the next 20 years. In 2019 Ms. Briner became a member of the Swiss Orchestra conducted by Lena-Lisa Wustendorfer.

Since its founding in 2003 by Claudio Abbado, lsabelle Briner has also been a violinist in the highly acclaimed Lucerne Festival Orchestra. Her main emphasis has always lain on Chamber Music; hence Isabelle Briner has often played in a duo with her sister Sibylle, an equally gifted pianist, or in a duo with violinist Henja Semmler. In 2004 the Violin Duo won the Advancement Award for artistic talent and outstanding achievement from the European Council and received the “Premio Internazionale Franco Gulli” in the same year.

Nothing says spring better than our popular Classic Design Luncheon and Lecture! We’re honored to feature Genevieve Wheeler-Brown, the author of&nbsp;<a href="https://beyondblueandwhite.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">“Beyond Blue and White.”</a>
Wheeler-Brown’s book explores the history of Delftware ceramics, focusing on the often-overlooked roles of women as makers, patrons, and collectors, from 17th-century factory owners like&nbsp;Barbara Rotteveel&nbsp;to Gilded Age collectors like&nbsp;Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan. A must for devotees of decorative arts and the history of material culture. 
Location: The award-winning Jay Estate Gardens designed by Nelson Byrd Woltz. Co-Chairs, Tracy Edwards, Liz Garrett, Emmy Lambert, Lindsay Bello Martin and Suzanne Clary.
Guests will enjoy botanical cocktails and a tour of the blue and white blooms of our gardens at 11:30am followed by lunch and lecture at 12 Noon. Booksigning at 1:30pm. Catering provided by Scarborough Fair Catering.

GENEVIEVE WHEELER BROWN
Founding Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory in 2003, Genevieve comes to the advisory business with more than 12 years of experience in the auction world, strong generalist knowledge and a wide range of contacts in American, European and Asian decorative and fine arts.
Genevieve began her career with Christie’s in 1992 with the European Decorative Arts Department after working as an intern at The Phillips Collection, Washington D.C. in 1990. She was then asked to run Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, a department that handled inquiries for European based auctions including Indian and Southeast Asian art, Islamic Art, Miniatures, Textiles and Cameras. In 1995 Genevieve became the New York contact for sales of Fabergé and Russian Silver at Christie’s Park Avenue and most recently was as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from 1998 to 2003.
While at Christie’s, she was involved with important sales such as ‘The Pine Cone Egg’ by Carl Fabergé and ‘The Taft’ Stradivari which fetched the auction record for an instrument sold in the United States. She has also been an appraiser on the PBS production ‘The Antiques Roadshow’.
A supporter of several fine and decorative art related institutions, Genevieve has served on the Board of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, served as a member of the Young Fellows Steering Committee of the Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005 and co-Chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collector’s Night, New York in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Genevieve currently advises several organizations including <a href="https://www.dumbartonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dumbarton House</a>, a Federal period house museum in Georgetown, as a board member as well as for <a href="https://www.thewintershow.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Winter Show</a> as a vice-chair of Opening Night and as co-founder of The Winter Show Luncheon.About The Jay Heritage Center
