Last Chance: Bronx Retrospective

Library event offers glimpse of the Bronx of the 1940s, 50s and 60s.

We've seen hundreds of events come and go in the community, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed out on? That's where we come in. From time to time, Great Neck Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

Enjoy a 90-minute nostalgic retrospective of the Bronx of the 1940s, 50s and 60s at the Great neck Library on Wednesday. The event will be hosted by Steve Samtur, publisher the "Back in THE BRONX" magazine.

This walk down memory lane includes close to 500 never-before-seen photos of your Bronx the way it was. The presentation features shared memories of the Bronx including the Grand Concourse, Art Deco, Bronx Delis (East and West), Freedomland, Fordham Road, movie theatres including the Loew’s Paradise, Parkchester, Yankee Stadium, parks, shopping, schools and transportation.

Start time is 2 p.m. in the Community Room, at the main branch, 159 Bayview Ave.
