On Monday, June 10, 2013 from 10am - 1pm the YMCA at Glen Cove, in collaboration with North Shore LIJ, will be conducting FREE Diabetes screenings. The event is open to both members and non members and will give visitor results in about five minutes. At the event, North Shore LIJ professionals and YMCA health educators will answer any questions about Diabetes prevention throughout the day. "Diabetes and Prediabetes among adults and youth has become a serious epidemic," says Tina Graziose, YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program Regional Coordinator, "Most people don't realize the severity of the condition that can potentially lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, high blood pressure and blindness."
