Kristina Cavallo- Awarded Top Female Physical Education Major in the U.S.

Kristina Cavallo, a senior and member of the Adelphi University Softball Team (Half Hollow Hills HS West 2007), has been selected as the recipient of the AAHPERD (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance), Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship. This honor is awarded to the top female physical education major in the country.

 In December of 2011, she became a finalist in the running for the Presidential Scholarship when she was named the Eastern District Association Robert Pate Award winner, which recognizes the top female physical education major in the Northeast. The ceremony was held on March 15 at the Boston Convention Center where she was recognized for her academic performance within the physical education field.

AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting professionals involved in physical education, recreation, fitness, sport and coaching, dance, health education and promotion, and all specialties related to achieving a healthy and active lifestyle.
