Driver Flips Over Center Divider on Northern State
The crash occurred between Round Swamp Road and Route 110 on Thursday.

A driver was rescued from a vehicle that flipped over the center divider on the Northern State Parkway on Thursday, May 7.
A Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound when it crashed and landed on the westbound side of the highway, between Round Swamp Road and Route 110.

Melville firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” tools to cut off the roof and remove the driver, police said.
The driver was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel responded to the scene with two heavy rescue trucks and three ambulances. The units were under the direction of Second Assistant Chief Paul Mahler.
