Holiday Lights To Illuminate Harlem's 125th Street For 25th Year
Harlem is kicking off the holiday season Thursday night with the 25th annual holiday lighting

HARLEM, NY — It's about to look a lot like the holidays in Harlem. The 125th Street Business Improvement District, with help from Community Board's 9 and 10, will hold its annual Harlem Holiday Lights festival Thursday night.
Holiday lights strung above 125th Street will be lit up Thursday night for the 25th consecutive year, signaling an unofficial start to the holiday season. The lights will span Harlem's main stretch from Fifth Avenue all the way down to Marginal Street on the East River, the business district said in a press release.
To ring in the holiday season, businesses along 125th Street will hold special promotions and host in-store activities Thursday night. Events include art, karaoke, trivia, an employee talent show, beverage and food tastings, a children's village and an ugly sweater contest, the business improvement district said.

The Harlem Holiday Lights festival is a free activity and open to the public, the business improvement district said. Tickets to the silent party must be purchased ahead of time and can be found online.
