NYPD Closes Investigation Into Death Of NY State Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD has closed its investigation into the death of NY State Court of Appeals Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam, who was found dead on the shores of the Hudson River in April, according to multiple reports.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce announced Wednesday that the police will cease collecting new evidence in the case and will turn over all evidence to the city Medical Examiner, the Daily News reported.

“At some point, the chief ME will provide a cause of death. As you know we put a lot of man hours into that, and we were able to find her at Riverbank Park and that's the last time she was seen," Boyce said Wednesday, as reported by the Daily News.

A message left with the NYPD was not immediately returned.

Law enforcement sources told Patch privately that Abdus-Salaam, 65, likely took her own life.

The NYPD harbor unit recovered Abdus-Salaam's body at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, from the shore on the New York side of the Hudson River, police told Patch. She was transported to West 125th and Marginal streets, where paramedics pronounced her dead.
