Following in the footsteps—or perhaps setting a precedent—of local Sound Shore communities like Larchmont and Mamaroneck, Harrison will soon begin their over twenty-year tradition of holding free summer concerts in Riis Park and the West Harrison Village Green.
The 10-member band Reunion—a local favorite that's been playing on and off together since the late '60s—will headline the July 4th celebration at 7:45 p.m. in Riis Park before the fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the Claremon Shopping Center on Halstead Avenue.
In past years, local families have laid out blankets on the grass, grabbed a take-out meal and enjoyed the extra hour of hazy sunshine while soaking in the mellifluous sounds of summer.
The concerts will take place every Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) in July and August, beginning on July 10 and ending Aug. 22. In the last week of August—the 28th and 29th—the town will show two movies at Brentwood and Ron Belmont Pools.
