3 Dogs Rescued From Hicksville House Fire

One of the dogs was found unconscious inside the home Thursday morning, police say.

Nassau Police officers were able to rescue three dogs, including one that was found unconscious, from a Hicksville house fire Thursday morning.

According to authorities, three police officers and a medic responded to a house fire on Georgia Street when they heard a dog barking from inside the home at around 9 a.m.

The officials forcibly entered the home through the front door and were able to find the dog through the smoke, who was unconscious by the time he was located.

An officer carried the dog outside, where the police medic revived the animal.

Two other dogs were located in the home and they were all taken to a local vet, where they are reportedly in good condition.

The officers who responded to the scene were Andrew Massa, Michael Rothwell and Steven Tornetta as well as police medic Benjamin Butt. Rothwell carried the dog out of the house and Butt revived the pup.

The Hicksville Fire Department along with nearby departments and EMS responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported in the fire and police believe it started in the kitchen.
