Coronavirus: Donors Buy $11K Worth Of Board Games For Hospitals
Main St. Board Game Cafe in Huntington will provide the games to ER personnel and children after a pair of donors came forward.

HUNTINGTON, NY — Main St. Board Game Café in Huntington will provide local hospitals with $11,000 worth of board games thanks to the generosity of two donors, Neil Goldberg, owner of the cafe, said. The games are meant to provide an outlet to emergency room personnel on the front lines of the new coronavirus, as well as children stuck at the hospital.
A customer donated $5,000 to the cafe, located at 307 Main St., to purchase the games. Soon after, a second donor came forward with a matching sum, bringing the overall total to nearly $11,000, according to Goldberg. The hospitals receiving games will be Huntington Hospital, Stony Brook Children's Hospital, NYU-Winthrop in Mineola and Sunrise Day Camps In-Hospital Program.
"This all happened so organically right into our lap," Goldberg told Patch. "One customer came forward with this, we announced it and within a day we had gotten another $6,000. A business hopes to build its own community, and when that community basically brings this level of support back to you, to help people on Long Island, to help your business survive. There are things in life, good things, for which sometimes there are no words."
