1. Northport church selected for historic landmark status. Gov. Kathy Hogul says St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church in Northport, completed in 1873, has been nominated along with other sites for the state and national Registers of Historic Places. Out of all 19 nominations in New York State, the church was the only nomination from Long Island. (Newsday)
2. A "field of honor" display was created at Harborfields High School to honor the nation and observe the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, according to the school district. The school's student government, under the leadership of Barbara McCullagh and Kerri McGinty, came up with the idea. The flags were displayed on the school's front lawn and throughout the property. 3. A Huntington man was charged with driving with intoxicated Sunday night after he drove the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills, Suffolk County police said. Officer Weldon Drayton spotted Luis Mendoza, 34, of Huntington, driving towards the expressway the wrong way on the off ramp at Exit 51 around 10:30 p.m. Mendoza was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was held overnight at the Second Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday. (http://www.huntingtonNow.com)
